There are no shortage of gardens to visit and if nothing else, even in the height of summer, they providing inspiration and ideas for next year as well chance to admire the hard work of others. And so on a visit to the parents we went to Abbeywood Gardens near Delamere (Cheshire, North-West England for those from other parts). Now if you visit the Abbeywood Website you may come away thinking this is just some wedding venue but don’t be fooled, these gardens are wonderful and bold with huge drifts of grasses, perennials and evergreens and that is before you get to the woodlands. It really is well worth a visit.
As soon as we turned the corner 3 ducks sprinted(?) out of their accommodation to... get some food and water.
Freesia's underplant the fruit trees at Abbeywood along with a gaggle of Viola's - just perfect.
Hydrangea 'Blue Lace'
The end of a long hard slog around Abbeywood Estate Garden was rewarded with a lovely scone with jam and butter. Can't ask for more.
And as the time at Abbeywood drew to a close, MrsB spotted this leaf (from the Gingko biloba) - my logo - what a great way to end the visit.
