Three things from my week (we won’t talk about the rain) that I thought useful to throw on to the website. First up, recycling of compost/soil etc. bags which is something which definitely gets me hot under the collar. Then, gardening students… lovely people but trainers really don’t prepare folk for what the realities are. Finally, cake… sorry slugs & snails… Greg Foot’s investigation into our one footed foe is well worth a listen.
- A local garden centre takes not only pots but also the empty compost/soil bags (see photo) – very happy!
- Had to chuckle to myself whilst listening to the instructor (before they let loose some gardening students on trimming my client’s hedge) – in the theory, practice and theory are the same thing, in practice they are not – is what came to mind as the instructor’s words of wisdom were being imparted. They did a good job – just the top… oh and the pesky bit over the shed to do!
- Listened to Sliced Bread on Radio 4 which investigated the effectiveness (or not… of slug repellents). Kinda confirmed what I had been thinking/read etc. – relied a lot on RHS views but still an interesting listen whilst you are out in the very soggy trenches with the one footed warriors. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00237z6
So that is my soggy week, next looks much drier and much busier!
